Hostgator: Unlimited Multiple Domain Names With A Single Hosting Account

Hostgator allows you to have multiple domain names associated with a single hosting account. The ability to have unlimited websites with a single hosting account is partly what attracted me to hostgator in the first place.

The thing that confused me at first was that I thought unlimited websites meant that you paid for a single hosting account and then got to add as many additional domain names to that account free of charge. That is not the case, and I wish they were clearer about that. You have to pay $15 for each additional .com domain name that you wish to register (if you are purchasing a brand new domain from hostgator that is). But that is still quite a good deal compared to if you were to purchase brand new hosting for each new domain.

Additional website domain names are added to your hostgator package as add-on domains. You have one primary website address associated with your hosting package and each additional domain is an add-on domain.

Add-on domains can be added to your hosting account from the C-Panel, but you must already own the domain you wish to add.

An add-on domain is a fully functioning website and has no less functionality than the primary domain. In the hostgator C-panel.

Hostgator sees your add-on domain as www.primarydomain.com/addondomain but Google will pick it up as www.addondomain.com so it acts just like a normal website, and there is no negative SEO side affects associated with this.

The hostgator website has more information on the different packages on offer including the specifics on the difference between add-on domains, sub-domains and the various services on offer.

Hostgator Multiple Domains Blog

Hello there and welcome to my blog. I have set up this blog to share my experiences with the domain hosting website called Hostgator. I have a number of websites set-up with them and am always learning how to do new things on Hostgator as I try out new things for my websites.

I find the support staff really helpful and they literally get back to your emails within minutes. I believe they have some sort of 24/7 support going, which is great.

I remember that when I was looking for a domain host I spent hours searching the internet comparing the different options. In the end I went for hostgator because of the ease of adding "add-on" domains. This means that with a single hosting package you can add as many domains as you like to the package without having to purchase extra hosting for them individually. This means you can literally set-up a large number of websites for different topics. This is particuarly great for people aiming to make money on the Internet as you can have multiple streams of income from these websites that is likely to add up nicely over time.

Hostgator has a control panel where you can perform all your website management. There are loads of different things you can do from the C-Panel and I will post about some of the things that have worked for me. I will also try and add some solutions to common problems and questions people may have about hostgator.
